WHAT IS CHAW IN YOUR COMMUNITY?
Capitol Hill Arts Workshop’s Annual Paint Bucket Campaign funds projects and programs for community outreach. We do this by providing tuition waivers for arts classes and music lessons, subsidized rehearsal and meeting space for arts and other non-profits, and free art kits, and by running pop-up workshops throughout the city.
HOW YOU OPEN THE DOOR TO POSSIBILITY
With over 90% of all donations raised supporting youth programs and outreach, your investment in this work helps bridge the socioeconomic gap in arts accessibility so every kid is given the resources to express themselves. #chawinyourcommunity
Hello donors and supporters!
We are 4 days away from the end of our Paint Bucket Campaign and we are incredibly grateful for all of you who have donated, matched gifts, and shared! We are 24% of the way there and every dollar, post, and share counts! Please continue sharing and donating so we can reach our goal of 250 donors and $45,000!
Your investment in CHAW goes toward supporting tuition assistance, subsidized rent for artists, and programs like YAP, our Youth Arts Program. Today is Day 1 of YAP and we are so excited to welcome kids into our building! This year will look a little different... safety is our number one priority. We'll be enforcing masks, hand washing and sanitizing, social distancing, and vaccinations for our staff members. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to exploring creative expression and fun with our students.
Meet some of our Teaching Artists below and learn about what classes will be offered!
Ms. Carolina will be teaching Drawing Techniques and 3D Art and Sculpture. In Drawing Techniques, students will learn about the fundamental concepts of drawing through fun assignments that include observation and imagination. In 3D Art and Sculpture, students will learn about the fundamental concepts involved in 3D Art and sculpture through assignments that include a variety of techniques and materials.
Ms. Mariana is teaching Mixed Media where students have the opportunity to reimagine old textiles, tissue paper, wires, etc to create new and unique art.
Ms. Haley is excited to teach Theater: Story Development. This acting adventures class will set off every week on a journey that will focus on storytelling, creative thinking, making connections, and working together through the development of “building block” performance skills such as improvisation, character development, creating environments, movement, and more.
Ms. Cat is teaching Bachata, where kids will learn the basics of a dance style called bachata, which comes from the Dominican Republic. Students will learn how to lead and follow with a partner to music and by the end of class students will know a full pattern.
Hi there everyone!
Thank you all SO much for donating, sharing, and creating matching gifts... your support has been invaluable in the success of this campaign and in the success of CHAW over the years. We have decided to extend Paint Bucket by 10 days, which gives us a little more time to meet our goal of 250 donors and $45,000. We are 22% of the way there! Please help us reach our goal by sharing with your friends via email and social media. Word of mouth and small gifts go a long way! Every dollar counts in ensuring that every kid can take a class at CHAW, no questions asked, and that we'll be successful in welcoming back kids into our building for a safe and fun fall semester.
