Kathryn's Project - Outdoor classroom Orange Hunt Elementary

My Gold Award project aims to address the lack of concentration many students and teachers attending Orange Hunt Elementary School struggle with exclusively learning in indoor classrooms. Due to how the school was built, many of its classrooms do not feature outdoor-facing windows. Being given the opportunity to learn in an outdoor environment would give many classes a break from fluorescent lighting and their closed-in classrooms, as well as reducing stress and anxiety. The outdoor classroom will be placed at the Northeast corner of the Orange Hunt Elementary property (6820 Sydenstricker Road, Springfield, VA 22152) and will be 16 x 16 feet.
